Services
Rainbow of Hope Texas focuses on four areas that work together as one for the benefit of young adults with special needs and military veterans: Social Skills, Life Skills, Equine Therapy and Ecotherapy.
Young Adults with Special Needs
Rainbow of Hope's young adult students come to the program wanting to be independent, wanting to work, wanting friends, wanting to be part of this world and saying, "Here I am to love, give and serve, just like you!" Rainbow of Hope staff teach students life skills, social skills, music, fitness, hygiene, pottery and various forms of art. Rainbow of Hope partners with Harvest for the Hungry in Freeport, and have access to their facility and property. Students practice ecotherapy and life skills. Real Farm-to-Table classes - gathering eggs and turning them into a meal for everyone. Staff also teach students laundry basics, kitchen basics, gardening and fishing!
Rainbow of Hope students practice horsemanship, which promotes emotional and behavioral health. Spending time with horses increases self-confidence, nurtures a positive self-image, and fosters new independence as participants learn riding skills and how to care for the horses. Student activities include observing, handling, grooming, groundwork and structured challenging exercises with the horses focused on the youth's needs and goals.
Internships through True to Life Ministries in Lake Jackson and Zieglers Graphics in Angleton offer the platform to give our students an abundance of retail and job skills.
We have a partnership with Dons Pottery. Don volunteers his time twice a month teaching our young adults the basics of pottery making. He has a heart as big as Texas, we are so blessed to have him.
Rainbow of Hope has a partnership with Valhallan, an organization that empowers kids through competitive gaming, teaching teamwork, leadership and life skills - all in a fun and safe environment where they can thrive. Valhallan works in conjunction with Spacio.us, which is Pearland's go-to coworking space, offering 24/7 access to private rooms, offices and everything you need to stay productive.
Rainbow of Hope's young adults program is supported by the unconditional love of volunteers, parents, animals and community members in Rosharon and the surrounding cities: Houston, Alvin, Angleton, Missouri City, Katy and Galveston.
Thunder Hooves Veterans Equine Program
Thunder Hooves Veterans Equine Program is devoted and designed to help veterans develop the life skills and soft skills needed to be successful in the workplace and in life. Thunder Hooves is an 8-week program that incorporates various horse-related tasks to teach time management, adaptability, problem solving, creative thinking, teamwork, leadership, communication, conflict resolution and empathy. Thunder Hooves helps enhance the mental health and well-being of veterans by providing equine therapy and reflective journaling classes. We are proudly Certified through Spirit Horse International.
Primary classes are conducted by Daviana Tucker, SpiritHorse International Certified Equine Assisted Therapeutic Instructor, with 20+ years of horse ownership and riding experience. Daviana has competed in English and Western pleasure, AQHA, PtHA, and AHA breed shows, Halter, Showmanship, Hunter/Jumpers, rodeo events, and EXCA Extreme Cowboy Race events. She has attended clinics by Clinton Anderson, Warwick Schiller, and Buck Brannaman, and has worked closely with veterinarians and farriers over the years, learning valuable information about overall equine healthcare.
