Our Services

The Rainbow of Hope Texas will offer four different programs working together as one. They will consist of a SS program, a comprehensive Life Skills program, a Therapeutic Riding Program, and an Ecotherapy Program.

Social Skills

Social skills is the contingent use of reinforcement and other important principals to increase behaviors generalize learned behavior or reduce undesirable behavior. Data is collected on the responses made by the individual to determine if progress is being made; if there is no progress under a particular trial, we will reevaluate the program and make changes so that the individual begins to make progress.

At Rainbow of Hope Texas through the availability of varied programs from a chair in a classroom to the saddle of a horse, our goal is to provide affordable therapy to young adults who can significantly benefit from this program.

Life Skills

We consider Life Skills to be immensely important and critical to the long term health and well-being of our students. We will work on an individual basis with the parents guardians of each student to discuss and set goals. The primary focus will be on these goals, yet leaving open the door for opportunities to discover new goals as the lesson plan unfolds. We believe in the philosophy, “Don’t try to fit a round peg in a square hole!”

Ecotherapy

Ecotherapy is a relatively new concept and is based around the concept of simplifying our lives and getting back to the basics: nature.

Until approximately 100 years ago, and for some people, fewer than that, connecting with nature was a common way of life. One had to be in familiar and comfortable with nature in order to survive; grow and gather your own food, find your own water, etc.

Over the last century, our dependency on food and water has not lessened, but our familiarity with nature has changed. Now we get our food from a grocery store chain that we simply drive to and water always comes out of our household faucet. While we no longer have to cultivate our own personal crops, research has shown a direct correlation between our diet of processed food usually coated with chemicals and our detrimental health. Our students will consume the same organic meat, fish, fruits and vegetables that they help cultivate.

Ecotherapy is a way of promoting physical and mental health through the use of nature. It’s a very simple concept, but also a very powerful one.

Horsemanship

Horsemanship promotes emotional and behavioral health in all individuals. Spending time with horses increases self-confidence, nurture a positive self-image, and foster new independence as participants learn riding skills and how to care for the horses.

Activities include observing, handling, grooming, groundwork, and structured challenging exercises with the horses focused on the youth’s needs and goals. Providing unique non-verbal opportunities for the person to enhance self-awareness, recognize maladaptive behaviors, identify negative feelings, and face self-defeating cognition.

* All Therapeutic Equine Activities are facilitated by independent professionals not employed by Rainbow of Hope Texas.

Need for Services

The demographic of young adults is in desperate need for a program like Rainbow of Hope Texas. In the Public School System, when students turn 18 years of age all academic teaching stops. These students are then transitioned into learning job skills like restaurant work or bagging groceries.

At the age of 21, all Public School assistance ceases as well as all governmental programs. In this decade alone, a half a million young adults will turn 21. This group of forgotten young people are in immense need of someone to speak on their behalf and provide beneficial programming assistance.

Donate today to support our mission!

Rainbow of Hope Texas aspires to be a positive and strong influence on the developmentally, physically, and emotionally challenged communities by creating a program that is unique and progressive.
